The President’s Summer Message
As we prepare our summer camp schedule it brings back to my mind the simple joy of waking up on a summer morning, watching “ Leave it to Beaver “ and then heading out on my bike to play neighborhood pickup baseball for the balance of the day. This feeling of the sheer enjoyment of the game is what we would like to pass on to the players that attend our summer camps. We work with them to improve there various skills, play pickup games but it is the love of the game that we would like them to leave with the most. Baseball is one of the greatest lifetime companions anyone could ask for. The season itself plays out like a long running serial or soap opera whether it is the team you’re playing on or the major league team you are following. You can collect cards, read box scores or take in games at various ballparks stretched across North America. Numerous fine authors write books on the intersection of baseball and history. Most of all baseball helps form connections between people of different generations, continents as well as the kids down the street. For all these good things to happen we have to remember “It has to be fun! “ I hope to see you all this summer because it is going to be fun.

The Program: Pitchers will be given small group instruction. The primary focus will be on throwing mechanics, the windup, stretch and building arm strength. Various pitch types and pitching strategy will be covered where age appropriate.
Hitting Clinic: (Wood bat only) 1:00-3:00
Cost: $60.00/player
Ages: approx. 8-16
The Program: Hitters will be given small group instruction. Topics to be covered include: rhythm and balance, stance, grip, swing path, how to practice on your own, hitting strategies and developing into a confident hitter.
Cost to register for both programs: $100.00

This program is strategically scheduled just before the beginning of team practices. This program will provide you with the knowledge of what you need to do to improve and also give you the opportunity to hit a lot of balls so you can come out swinging when your practices start.
Hitting Topics: The athletic stance, rhythm and balance, timing, swing path, game preparation, hitting adjustments, seeing the ball, hitting to all fields and many more.

The Program: The program will consist of a series of drills and instructional games which will serve to educate, train and create a feeling of enjoyment one can derive from participating in baseball. Throwing, fielding, hitting and team play are the major areas of concentration. Chris Corkum will personally direct the program.
